The Objective of this WebSite
The Website is designed to aid students at the intermediate level to engage with the history and aid in the understanding of historical concepts. The material on this website is based on the core curriculum set out by the Ontario Curriculum (2013) set out by the board of education. Additionally, for the purposes of this website information has been also taken from intermediate level textbooks from Pearson Education. The topics covered on this website revolve around Confederation and Canada becoming a nation. The goal of this website is to help students understand the four major concepts of historical thinking as laid out by the Ontario Curriculum. The Ontario Curriculum sets out the major concepts of historical thinking as, historical significance, cause and consequence, continuity and change, and historical perspective. Through working through the material presented on this website students will build the following skills: the ability to formulate questions, gather and organize information, interpret and analysis information, evaluate and draw conclusions, and the ability to communicate. Through reading material on the website in the form of secondary sources and primary documents the students using this website will gain a greater understanding on Canadian Confederation. Furthermore, through viewing short videos on Canadian history and using other visual sources students will be able to grasp a greater understanding of past events. Students will participate in online polls and discussions to help them interact with other students on historical topics.
